Preamble

This Code of Discipline has been drawn up for the guidance of children of Calvary Hillcrest Schools, Cape Coast.

The rules and regulations in this Code should not be regarded merely as a catalogue of offences and penalties or negatively on constituting restraint on the pupils’ freedom.

The purpose of this Code is to provide a guide on disciplinary matters. It is expected that the sanctions exercise self control and self discipline in their day to day activities in the school.

1.

Lateness (7:45-8:30)

  • Warning/caning

  • Watering of plants

  • Groundwork-picking and sweeping of rubber.

2.

Lateness(without tangible reason)

  • Child stays out of class for the entire day to work (where the child reports unaccompanied by parents)

  • Child is sent back home with the parent (i.e. where the parent accompanies the child to school)

3.

Habitual lateness

  • Three (3) days internal suspension to work on school compound

  • Withdrawal of child

4.

Absenteeism/Truancy / Cutting classes/ Breaking bounds

  • Assigned to some responsibilities

  • Withdrawal of child

5.

Leaving school without permission/Under false pretence

  • Caning

  • Suspended for three (3) days

6.

Noise making/ Disturbance in class

  • Clean classroom or compound

  • Scrub the veranda

7.

Littering

  • Cleaning of area littered

  • Pick rubbish on compound/sweep classroom for the day

8.

Stealing

  • Strong warning/canning

  • Replacement of stolen item

  • Withdrawn in severe cases/and for habitual acts

Quarrelling / Teasing

  • Warning

  • Groundwork

  • Sign an undertaken to be of good behavior

10.

Quarrelling / Teasing that results in injury

  • Warning

  • Caning

  • Render an apology

  • Pay for bills of treatment

  • Suspension

Fighting that result in injury

  • Caning

  • Pay for bills of treatment

  • Sign an undertaken to be of good behavior

  • Suspension

Improper dressing

Flouting Authority/Insubordination/ Disrespect/Insulting a teacher or non-teaching staff and visitors
